Gusmao launches child immunisation campaign 31.07.2000 16:00
The President of the National Council of Timorese Resistance, Xanana
Gusmao, has launched a major child immunisation programme, by video link
to Parliament.
Mr Gusmao has spoken on Unicef's Children's Challenge campaign, which
aims to raise funds to immunise children all over the world.
Unicef's New Zealand spokesman Jeff Brown says nearly three million
children die of vaccine-preventable diseases every year.
He is appealing for New Zealanders to find the $35 it costs to immunise
a child for life against six key diseases.
