President greets the people Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2007.
In his Christmas message to the people of Timor-Leste, President Xanana Gusmao appealed for unity and development, for forgiveness and reconciliation. On behalf of the organs of sovereignties President Gusmao called upon all the citizens to work together and to cooperate with the heads of the State in order to end the present crisis of the country. To the youth, the president stated that it is time for them to leave behind violence and to come together to build the country. The President also invited the Church leaders to help the government in solving the problems of the country by rebuilding the trust of the people towards the government.
In other news, the Superior Council of State would meet today to discuss the date for the upcoming National Elections.
