PKF Mission is not Limited the Security

The new PKF Force Commander Lieutenant General Khairuddin Bin Mat Yusof said that UNPKF Mission in Timor-Leste is not just limited to the security but to support the local communities. Speaking during the inauguration of a new bridge in Viqueque on Thursday, the Lieutenant General reminded that PKF would always cooperate with the communities and the government. He said the participation of the community is important to build awareness on developing their own country. (STL)

China and TL Signed Cooperation Agreement

China will cooperate with Timor-Leste in the areas of infrastructures and health, as part of the six agreements signed by both governments, reported the Portuguese news agency, Lusa. Alkatiri said that the Chinese would rehabilitate Timor-Leste's presidential palace, as well as houses for veterans of the armed forces. He added that China will send a team of 12 doctors to 'ork in Timor-Leste until December'. The agreements signed between Timor-Leste and China cover areas of trading, agriculture and fisheries. On Thursday Alkatiri met the President of China Hu Jintao and the President of the National Popular Assembly, Wu Bangguo. On Friday he will visit the industrial city of Lanzhou. (Lusa)

Mozambique Will Assist TL in the Area of Defence and Security

Mozambique Defence Vice-Minister, Henrique Banze said on Thursday that his government is willing to support Timor-Leste in the areas of defence and security. Banza spoke to the media after meeting with Timor-Leste Minister of Interior Rogerio Lobato, in Maputo. (Lusa)

President Gusmão Received New Apostolic

On Friday President Gusmão received the credentials for the new Apostolic Nuncio to Timor-Leste, Monsignor Renzo Fratini. The President also received the credentials from the Russian Ambassador Vladimir Yu Plotnikov.
