HR 2895 and S.1568 - impose an immediate suspension of assistance to the Government of Indonesia until the results of the August 30, 1999, vote in East Timor have been implemented, and for other purposes. Statements on introduction of S1568. (Note: Sen. Feingold the text of S1568 was changed and passed by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on September 27, 1999, and HR 2895 did not get out of committee. Several of the restrictions from the bill were passed as part of the Omnibus Appropriations Act.
