Help Provide Humanitarian Aid for the People of East
Timor
The Indonesian military and their militias forced three-quarters of the people of East Timor into the mountains or out of their country in early September. Many have still not returned, and thousands have been killed. The survivors face a severe humanitarian crisis -- starvation, dehydration, and disease. Over 90% of Dili was destroyed, a pattern repeated in almost every town throughout East Timor. They must build their nation from scratch. ETAN's principal focus is advocating for changes in U.S., UN and Indonesian policy to support East Timorese human rights and self-determination, and we welcome financial contributions for that important work. But at this critical time, many people also want to donate emergency aid to East Timor. We suggest one or more of the following tax-deductible organizations: East Timor Relief Fund PO Box 420832, San Francisco, CA 94142. 415-522-9988 Grassroots International 179 Boylston Street 4th Floor, Jamaica Plain,
