From: kerryp@jungle.ottawa.on.ca (Kerry Pither)Dear friends,
The "Embassy of East Timor" and the solidarity camp set up around it is into
day three in downtown Ottawa. So far, the camp has been a *huge* success.
We have had to add another 5 metres to our petition quickly being filled up with
messages to our foreign affairs minister, asking him to publicly support East Timor's
right to self-determination.
Last night we showed outdoor movies on East Timor, to a huge audience of passers-by and
supporters. This was projected on to a giant screen, with everyone watching from the steps
of the human rights monument.
Having the Jazz Festival - which attracts tens of thousands - a block away, has also
meant a constant flow of new people coming into the embassy.
Pictures are available on ETAN/Ottawa's web page, accessible from the ETAN/Canada web
page at www.etan.ca.

In solidarity,
