Timor/Portugal: Nobel Peace Prize laureate Ramos Horta has doubts about Indonesian troop
withdrawal
Lisbon, 31 Jul (Lusa) - East Timorese Nobel Peace Prize co-laureate Jose Ramos Horta
said in Lisbon on Thursday that this week's withdrawal of 400 Indonesian soldiers from his
home land would only have the necessary credibility if it had been submitted to an
international verification process. Ramos Horta said the Indonesian troop withdrawal from
East Timor lacked credibility since there was no proper international verification
procedure. The Nobel Peace Prize winner also said that Indonesian had recently sent an
additional 800 ''non-combatant'' military personnel to the occupied territory, a move he
described as ''extraordinarily bad faith.''-Lusa nnnn
