Subject:Information update
1. The Indonesian armed forces are preparing a military operation of the "surprise
attack" type on to the positions held buy the Falintil to be started to the 28th of
October 1998 till the 11th of november 1998,for this reason all Timorense that are in the
Indonesian military organization and where not in East Timor have been mobilized and
disembarked in Dili on the day's 17,18,19 of october, each disembark was composed of a
company of 60 to 100 soldiers and a supply of 60 munitions cases and 40 cases of small
arms. The transport of the troops was done on cargo type of ships, right after there
arrival, the troops where incorporated into battalions #744 and 745 of the troops already
stationed in east timor.
2. In each administration council (region) they is 2 companies of mixed troops composed
of local forces and mobil brigades of Brimob- special police command personnel.
3. In Kupan, the capital of West Timor 2 C130 Hercules planes transporting 3
battalion's of the following 1 battalion of Linud " air command forces" 1
battalion of Marinir "Naval shooters" and 1 battalion of Kostrad "
strategic infantry command".
4. In the administrative region of Ermera they is deployed 7 battalion's #
612,144,513,527,744,745 mixed in with SGI and Halilntar
5. In Viqueque at the mouth of the river Luca more that 1 battalion of Indonesian
troops have been disembarked and are conducting military operations from that area south
of Lospalos.
In all of East Timor from the start till mid october they is a total of 12 battalions
with a total of 9.600 military personnel composed of infantry and special Brimob shooters.

COMANDO POLITICO MILITAR DA REGIAO 3-CRUZEIRO SECRETARIADO DA INFORMACAO
ASSUNTO: INFORMACAO
1. As forcas Indonesias estao preparando uma operacao militar de caracter "Ataque
de surpresa" sobre todas as posicoes das Falintil cuja atuacao esta prevista para dia
28 de Outubro de 1998 ate 11 de Novembro de 1998. Para esse efeito mobilizaram todos os
timorenses enservico militar no exercito Indonesio fora de Timor Leste para regressar ao
territorio e desembarcaram em Dili nos dias 17, 18 e 19 do mes de Outubro de 1998 no cais
de Dili. Cada desembarce e composto por um contiguente com o total de efectivo 60 a 100
elementos e cada contiguente sao munidos de 60 cunhetes de municoes e 40 caixotes de armas
ligeiras. O transporte destes contiguentes foram feitas por barcos cargueiros. Apos o
desembarque foram emediatamente misturar-se com os batalhoes 744 e 745,batalhoes esses ja
organicos em Timor Leste.
2. Em cada concelhos Administrativo estao destacados 2 pelotoes de forca mista composto
por militares organicos e brigada movel(Brimob-Comando Especial da Policia).
3. Em Cupao, capital de Timor Ocidental aterrou 2 avioes C130 hercules transportando 3
batalhoes de detencao composto por; 1 batalhao de Linud "Comando da Forcas
Aereas", 1 batalhao de Marinir "Fuzileiros Navais", e 1 batalhao de Kostrad
"Comando Estrategico da Infantaria".
4. No concelho Administrativo de Ermera encontram-se destacados 7 batalhoes
designadamente o batalhao 612, 144, 513, 527, 744, 745 misturado com SGI e Halilintar.
5. Em Viqueque na foz da ribeira de Luca desembarcaram mais de 1 batalhao das forcas
Indonesios e estao a efectuar operacoes militares a partir da quela area ate ao Sul de
Lospalos.
Ao todo anivel do territorio de Timor Leste a partir dos principios ate meados de
Outubro encontram-se ao todo 12 batalhoes com o total de 9,600 efectivos militares
compostos por tropas da Infantaria e Atiradores Especias de Brimob.
E tudo que temos a informar neste momento.
